Ukraine: First days of war (2022)
I was deployed to Poland and Ukraine to document the first stages of humanitarian response after Russia invaded Ukraine. I worked as a stand-alone producer and cameraperson for the WHO, feeding daily Brolls, creating on-the-go Reels and feature video stories from Warsaw, Polish-Ukraine border and Lviv.
Lviv Central Station
Hundreds of people crowd at Lviv central station, fleeing cities bombed by Russian forces. After initial days of chaos a group of Ukrainian volunteer doctors and medical staff emerges to take care of the most vulnerable: women with small children. Short feature video I shot and edited while in Lviv.
Treating cancer patients under threat of bombs
Pediatric oncologist Dr Severyn, 27 talks about the experience of treating his young cancer patients in the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center in Lviv, Ukraine. The Center is the biggest facility in the region to treat young patients with cancer. After weeks of bombings the supplies are dwindling and the work is relentless. This story has been edited from voice notes.
